Up Close and Personal

Inspired by conversations with peers from the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors South-West Committee about their up-coming event - Reconnect. Learn. Audit.

Having qualified as a Chartered Internal Auditor back in 2004, I’ve continued learning and practicing ever since then.  Working in Organisational Development, projects may have different names (‘review’ rather than ‘audit’ for instance), but the technical toolkit and professional skillset continue to be just as valuable.  So when CIIA SW colleagues asked me to help design and take part in their regional conference, then of course the answer was ‘YES!’.  Contributing to this event is an opportunity to both be part of a welcoming community and give back to the profession that’s taught me a lot.

As this is an in-person event, there’s an impressive line-up of expert speakers covering:✅ Behavioural risk✅ AI and internal audit✅ Wellbeing, resilience and sustainable performance✅ And a candid fireside chat between a Head of Audit and Audit Committee Chair,

More than that, is the chance to get ‘up close and personal’ during World Café sessions during the 2nd part of the day.  Participants and speakers gather around in small groups to ask questions, share professional insights and exchange opinions.  Relationship and community building will be front and centre of the event, rather than something that happens between talks and at the sides of the room.  Conversations continue throughout the afternoon and you can also have a cup of tea whenever you like.
